RE-PROGRAM and REWIRE YOUR BODY
>  for better performance and pain free movement

Your body is amazingly well designed.  When it is properly balanced and
functioning optimally, it is capable of incredible things, but when we have an injury,
or a movement disorder, it puts a ceiling on how well you move your body.  Your
muscles can only perform well if you have mobile joints that allow good movement
patterns.  And good movement patterns help to reduce pain, and the
accompanying ailments that go along with pain like arthritis.

> Why does mobility matter?

This neurologically-based training approach is designed to help you build and
rebuild the body you have always known you have had.  It is a holistic and scientific
approach to the rehabilitation of injury and the development of movement
excellence.  It teaches you how to isolate and move every joint in your body in
every direction and pattern.  And when you move better, you feel better.

> what does that mean?

If you think about hurting your foot, sure, your foot hurts, but what happens to your
gait because of your limp, will that throw off your hip, which will throw off your
shoulder?  Poor movement patterns translate into pain that will manifest itself in
various parts of our body.

> how is this different than traditional approaches to pain?

In our culture, with regard to health, fitness and function, there are several powerful
and disturbing paradigms that need to change.  They are:

  1. The human body has inherent design flaws that result in eventual pain and
dysfunction (for example, aging means being in pain.)
  2. Change takes a lot of time.
  3. Close enough is good enough.

Our thinking today is typically biomechanical, i.e. “my back hurts because my
hamstrings aren’t firing.”  Instead, we need to think neurologically, in that our
nervous system rules.  By practicing movement intentionally, we restore good
mobility patterns and alleviate pain or range of movement problems.  In an organic
system such as our body, we need to be more accurate when we perform a given
task, therefore lessening the chance of injury.

> the good news!

Our mind is completely capable of adapting and changing at any age.  And if our
mind can change, so can our body in response to that.  This is called Plasticity.
The body’s receptor ratios change with each movement.  Meaning, our brain has
the capacity to grow more neurons for better or worse movement.

> what about my injury?

Regarding injuries, it is less accurate to talk about an isolated event that caused
the pain, than to talk about patterns.  While a particular injury, such as a car
accident, undoubtedly impacts our body, it is actually the subsequent movement
pattern that our body adapts to in order to compensate for the pain as a result of
the injury.
When we live with, or work out, in pain, our body reflexively tries to
protect itself by contracting.  Which is why many people walk around bent over, it is
their body’s reaction to pain. We then enter into patterns that end up changing our
lives.  By being conscious of what we are doing to create changes, we can help re-
pattern and rewire ourselves, and alleviate and avoid the pain.

> how do I re-program my body?

This program is designed to change our movement patterns thereby reducing pain
and enhancing performance. The steps included are:

  1. Health history interview
  2. Gait & mobility analysis
  3. Joint exercise evaluation
  4. Develop a personal program that enables you to become self-sufficient at
    sustaining your gains

By following a process of discovery, observation, and mobility drills, a personalized
plan is developed, thereby helping to rewire years of movement patterns that have
negatively affected and limited our lives.
